Airline Pilots

Duties and Responsibilities: Airline pilots fly and navigate planes, helicopters, and other aircraft. They transport people and cargo safely to their destinations and usually spend most of their time away from home. They also check for weather and see if it’s a good day to fly or not.

Salary: $114,200

Education: In order to become an airline pilot you must begin as a commercial pilot they usually just need a high school diploma. After becoming a commercial pilot you must have a Bachelor’s degree to become an airline pilot. Also they must pass the Airline Transport Pilot (ATP).

Reflection: I wouldn’t like to be an airline pilot because they spend a lot of time away from home and I wouldn’t want that. Also they must be sure they can be able to control a plane and know what to do if there’s an emergency and I would most likely panic especially because there in the air. It pays well but they have to do a lot of things that I wouldn’t want to do.

Lawyer

Duties and Responsibilities: Lawyers are also referred to as attorneys. They provide legal advice to businesses and individuals. They can specialize in in environmental law, criminal law, family law, social security and disability, medical malpractice, and international law. Lawyer’s advice clients to what laws they are under to help and protect them. They also involved in court cases in which they have to gather information, confer with judges, and lay out cases before juries in courtroom settings.

Salary:  $ 129,440

Education: To become a lawyer, you must complete 7 years of postsecondary education. It includes 4 years of undergraduate study and 3 years of law school. To prepare you for law school, you should consider completing undergraduate coursework in subjects that will allow you to learn to speak and think and write critically as well. By earning a Bachelor’s degree in any subject will allow you to go on and pursue graduate studies in law. In order to become a lawyer your curricula should include classes in government, English, foreign languages, and philosophy.

Reflection: In the past I have thought of becoming a lawyer but now that I know how much work it is to become one I don’t think that’s the career for me. It involves a lot of educational requirements and I feel I am going to get tired of the work. It may seem interesting in the court cases but it is a lot of work. It also pays well and is a good job if you do become a good lawyer.

Make-up Artist

Duties and responsibilities: A make-up artist is a person who uses cosmetic techniques and processes to create beauty upon human body. It enhances a person’s appearance, bringing out color and features and hiding or smoothing out flaws using cosmetic products. There are two kinds of make-up artist, cosmetic or fashion artist the other is theatrical and film make-up artist. Cosmetic artists, usually work on run ways. They work with designers to create looks on the model such as, emphasizing the lip shape or check bones. Film make-up artists; enhance an actor’s features to emphasize the character he or she plays in performance art. Young actors can be made look old and older actors to look younger, also creative characters can be created from nothing, as well as the makeup can change as the character changes in the course of the story. They must learn to work with different lighting conditions, the distance between the stage and the audience, and the requirements determined by high definition and digital cameras.

Salary: $ 64,450- $ 91,640 (that’s $ 25 to $ 44 hourly.)

Education: To become a makeup artist, you must have a deep love with cosmetics.  Each states requirement differ, some states have a separate license where individuals can specialize in that field only. Others states make you have a full cosmetology certification. Some don’t require anything but make-up artist training which typically run from 300-600 hours depending on the state and take less than 6 months to complete. Full cosmetology programs tend to be 1500 – 2000 hour to complete and take 12 to 24 months to complete.

Reflection: I would like to become a make-up artist because it seems like a fun easy job that pays well if you’re really good at it. I think it is a good job because you do art on people and help them feel better. Also you can meet famous people if you’re really good at make-up. Another thing about this is that you can express yourself through make-up, you don’t need a lot of educational requirements .
