    Student Success Statement
“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
-Thomas Carlyle
Reflection: I think that this statement is true because a ship can’t be without a rudder because then it won’t be able to steer the ship the direction you want it to go. A person without goals is like a ship and a rudder because if you don’t have goals you don’t know what you want to do or where you want to go where you want to you won’t be able to steer yourself the way you want to go if you don’t have goals.

       Beautiful Character
If there is beauty in character,
There will be harmony in the home.
There will be order in the nation
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
There will be peace in the world.
Conclusion:
If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world
-Chinese Proverb

Reflection: I think that this statement is true because in order to have peace with the world we should have peace within ourselves so we can make peace everywhere we go and with anything that we do. If we don’t have peace we will take hatred and not good feelings where ever we go we will make the world a horrible place.

·       Fairness: Play by the rules

Student Success Statement
“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating. “
-Sophocles
Reflection: I think this is a good statement because I would rather have honor in myself than having a better score and feeling bad about my decisions or doing something wrong and regretting it. If I make good decisions I will have honor in myself and won’t need to cheat or choose the wrong choice because I will always do what I have to do.

Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a day in which we remember those who have died in the service of the United States of America. It is celebrated on the 25th of May. I was originated during the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Some ways we can show honor and respect on Memorial Day is by saying thank you to all the people in the armed forces and being thankful to them and their families. Most people celebrate this holiday by going to parades, going to the people who risked their lives for us and decorating their grave, and by having barbecues with the family. One way I will do on Memorial Day is thank all the people who have fought in war for our freedom. Also I will spend time with my family and be free because that’s why people risk their lives for to be free.

Its better yo choose good values because without them the world would be  a very unhappy and terrible place.

Nothing
“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong.”
-Wilford Woodruff
Reflection: I think that this statement is true because when we do wrong we don’t win anything. We lose our dignity and loose respect and trust when we do wrong.

LAUSD Families
·       Some resources that LAUSD has for families is the Parent Advisory Committee, the District English Learner Advisory Committee, the ESC parent engagement, the parent and community resources, the Community Advisor Committee, the Parent Bill of Rights, and the school volunteer program.
·       I think these resources benefit us because our parents are being involved in our school or our district to try to help out and make the LAUSD district and the schools within this district better as well. Also they can be aware of anything that happens in the school or district.

·       I think my family and I will use all the resources we need when we need them. It is a good thing that LAUSD district has a parent Bill of Rights because that way our parents can know their right sand can fight for them.

Forgiveness
In this story a guy named Eric Smallridge was drunk and driving and hit a car where 20 year old Lisa and Megan were killing them both instantly. They gave him 22 years in prison and Megan’s mom Renee thought it was a good sentence for killing her daughter. A couple years later Renee went to speak to the judge to ask to cut Eric’s sentence in half giving him only 11 years in prison. Everyone was shocked but she said that he was truly sorry for what he caused. The judge accepted and later on Eric apologized to both Megan and Lisa’s parents. She later said that she forgave him because to her that’s the only way to heal and if she didn’t forgive him she was going to grow old, angry, and bitter and she didn’t want that so she decided to forgive him. Now Eric has apologized to both parents of Lisa and Megan in person and has started to go to different schools with Renee talking about the bad things of drinking and driving. He is out and free and so is she just because of one word.

Student Success Statement
“When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive.”
-Alan Paton
Forgive: to stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake.
Reflection: I think that this statement is true because until we forgive someone for something they have done to us even if it was a long time ago, we will feel peace in our hearts and no resentment toward anyone and you will be happy with everyone. But if you don’t forgive you will have resentment and even hate in your heart for that person.
