Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Duties and Responsibilities: Licensed practical nurses provide basic medical
care under the direction of registered nurses or doctors. They may work at nursing
care homes, extended care facilities, hospitals, physician offices, and private
homes. Their responsibilities include: monitoring patients health (checking
blood pressure), provide comfort for their patients (helping them bathe or
dress), administrate basic patient care (change bandages and inserting
catheters), keep records on patients health, report patients concerns to their
doctors, etc.
Salary: $
41,540
Education: In
order to become a licensed practical nurse you must take an educational
program, be approved, and receive your certificate or diploma. Then you must
complete a state approved program, the National Council Licensure Exam or
NCLEX-PN. You must pass the test and get a license to be able to work as an
LPN.
Reflection: I would not like to become an LPN because I already
know what I want to work in. Also you have to take care of others and I think
that I would not want to do that in the future.
