Audiologist
Duties and Responsibilities:
Audiologists diagnose and treat patients hearing and balance problems using
advanced technology and procedures. They treat patients from birth to
adulthood. They can provide treatments
to enable individuals to communicate effectively develop and implements prevention,
screening and early detection programs, and program cochlear implants and serve
on multidisciplinary cochlear implant teams.
Salary: $52,000 - $90,000
Education: In order to become an
audiologist, you must have a doctoral degree from an audiology program that has
been accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and
Speech-Language Pathology. To graduate from one of these schools, the requirements
vary. Some states require 275-375 hours of supervised clinical practice, a
passing score on a national examination, and 9 months of supervised professional
experience.
Reflection: I think that I wouldn't want
to be an audiologist because it takes a long time to become one and I would
like to have a career that does not take a long time. It seems like a good easy
job and pays well too but I don’t think that would be a good job for me.
