Health Sciences Librarian
Duties and Responsibilities: A
health sciences librarian is someone who helps provide access to medical
information through books, pamphlets, journals, tapes, multimedia
presentations, and the internet. They help
health providers, patients, and student sort out through the immense amounts of
information available.
Salary: $ 58,000
Education: In order to become a
health sciences librarian you must graduate from high school taking classes
like English, math, typing, and sciences. They must also take a 4 year course
to get a Bachelor’s degree. You must then earn a Master’s degree in library
science (MLS) with courses like, scientific literature, biomedical
communications, bibliographic resource use, library organization and
management, and standard cataloging systems.
Reflection: I
would not like to become a health sciences librarian because it seems like a
hard job to do. It requires you to get a Bachelor’s and later on a Master’s
degree and that takes a long time to complete. They also don’t pay that well but
it seems like an easy job but just the things you have to do to become one is
difficult.
